stereotype is a mistaken idea or belief many people have about a thing or group that is based upon how they look on the outside, which may be untrue or only partly true. Stereotyping people is a type of prejudice because what is on the outside is a small part of who a person is.

A stereotype is a fixed idea about a particular type of person or thing, which is often not true in reality.

All Arabs and Muslims are terrorists.

All people who live in England have bad teeth.

Italian or French people are the best lovers.

All Blacks outside of the United States are poor.

All Jews are greedy.

All Asians are good at math. All Asians like to eat rice and drive slow.

All Irish people are drunks and eat potatoes.

All Americans are generally considered to be friendly, generous, and tolerant, but also arrogant, impatient, and domineering.
